Apple Passes Less Inflation to iPhone Buyers Than Trump Mobile’s 50% Price Jump

Rising costs for parts inside smartphones have been a trending topic ahead of the latest iPhone launch from Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL). The tech giant is raising prices for consumers, but not as much as a phone named after the current president.

iPhone vs. Trump Phone: Tale of Two Strategies Apple recently unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, new smartphones that will begin shipping to consumers this month.

The iPhone 18 Pro costs $1,199, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max costs $1,299. Both phones cost $100 more than the previous iPhone Pro and Pro Max models.

3% more. The rising costs come with reports that Apple is paying 38% more for parts for the latest iPhone, including a 400% increase in memory prices.

Apple and other smartphone giants must decide how much of the costs to pass on to consumers, potentially hurting their own margins. 45-per-month plan named in honor of 45th and 47th President Donald Trump, also raised its phone price.

According to The Verge, Trump Mobile quietly changed the price of the T1 Phone. The price went from $499 to $749.

1% price increase for consumers. Executives at Trump Mobile previously said the $499 price was an "introductory" price, which could mean the increase was expected for some time.

This could lower demand for the Trump Mobile T1 Phone.

Apple raising the price minimally could be seen as a win for consumers and could help the company keep demand high. The real question will likely be when Apple unveils the flagship iPhone 18 model and pricing, as the company chose to release the Pro and Pro Max models first.
